well, here’s the official description from amazon:

Kinja'd!!!

but, allow me to enlighten you, what in fact should read:

In this show The Grand Tour is in Croatia to make fun of viewers and make a pointless film mocking the whiners that ask for unscripted films. It will be painful to watch, and it’s just a big middle finger to the viewer. The boys will continue to remind you that this is what YOU the viewer asked for.

Painfukl.

This was their best episode yet. The roast of the Nissan Juke was also wonderful.

disagree. well, not with the roasting, but with the best episode yet. I dont mind the semi-scripted/fully-scripted episodes/challenges

ok, I WILL concede that the not starting the race as they gawk as Sylvia the rando supermodel who DIDNT just happen to be hanging out in the middle of nowhere was a hilarious little bit of (scripted) humour.

sexist, objectifying humour. but I giggled :D

I also have no problem with the scripted stuff, they are pros and it’s what they do best. I thought it was great because they were making fun of all the complaints they had, almost systematically. Last week’s episode with the business park racing was great as well.

Hope you noticed the text on James’ car said Arse fire when the door was open, that was a good callback to when they did that on old New top gear.

you speak truth.

and when I search my heart, my favourite bits of any episodes of TG or GT have been the obviously unscripted bits. Something clearly unexpected will occur, or one of them will drop a clearly unscripted comment and the other two fall about laughing. Most often it’s the cheap car challenges where the cars just break and mayhem ensues.

Unscripted is good, but certainly seems to work better within the bounds of the scripted scenarios.

It was a pretty good episode, better than some of the awkward first season episodes. I think it was long due for them to do an episode like this, even stretching back to top gear. Everyone has an idea on how to do the show. They have been doing this longer than some people have been alive, especially Jeremy. Let them script it and make it to the best of their ability, like near the end with the rally and firefighting.

Agreed, I get it, hyperbole is the bread and butter of Jeremy Clarkson, but as you say the prolonged middle finger was just superfluous.

The new guest segment is also pretty terrible. Celebrity brain crash was an entertaining minute or so that one could look forward to. I used to watch the top gear ones learned cool stories about people I recognized, I don’t really know who these new guests are so that is a good chunk skipped.

I get it, the challenges and stuff is scripted, they used to do a fair bit in trying to hide it or even poking fun on occasion. This episode is a temper tantrum at best.
