Kinja'd!!!

Here in Mexico we only get one GT model and it’s listed at around 40,000 dollars but one can easily find it for 38,000.

It’s got the following equipment of interest:

Limited Slip Differential

Launch Control

continuously variable damping system

Heads Up Display

Harman Kardon audio

Brembo brake system.

It’s the Panther Grey exterior, which I believe is not available in US and Canadian cars, with red interiors and carbon fibre “look” interior trim.

Kia’s website is also claiming it gets 28mpg which is bullshit, but sure, we can all dream.

I am going to de-badge it too.

Why de-badge a brand new car?

Where else is the M badge going to go if the factory badge is left on?

You just won yourself a stinger badge!

Because I think badges ruin bodywork, I won’t remove the kia badges (perhaps the rear but I doubt it) but I will the stinger and the GT badging because I think its just plain showing off.

I guess I just don’t understand the mentality of being so excited about someone else buying a car that they make back-to-back posts about it, but also declaring in both posts that you’ll be taking the badges off. Like are you proud or ashamed that your family is getting a Kia?

Fair enough. When you said debadge, I assumed that you meant the Kia badges too, which confused me because you seemed excited about getting the Kia.

I am happy it’s that Kia! I just don’t want the model badges... it’s some weird pet peeve of mine...

That’s the best time. After a couple years, the sun will unevenly fade the clearcoat and you’ll always see the remnants of the lettering. Do it early or don’t do it.

Suppose it is like getting excited about a family member’s new baby? But shaving their eyebrows off?

That’s a good point. I guess I just never really understood de-badging cars. I’ll take a dealership badge off but that’s about it.

Showing off?

Although I can see maybe going for the sleeper aspect, seeing how much it resembles the profile of the prior Optima.

Because it looks cleaner, simple as that.

All the trim level badges should go, just leaving the manufacturer on the back.

It’s personal preference...I think that most badging ruins the flow of the trunklid, so it’s aesthetic. The origins are mostly in Europe where people either didn’t want to brag or flaunt their wealth....or broadcast their choice of a 1.6L engine in their E-Class :P

It does look a lot like the Optima, I suspect that the only issue is that this has got four exhaust pipes, but no one would really notice that from far away enough. I think this car is a blessing for Q car lovers like myself because it can be relatively hid. Had Kia not filled the city with the ads for the stinger chances are everyone would think it was just some sort of modded Optima.

You can also replace the Kia badges if you want. Kia even did it in Korea to distance the car from the brand. All Korean Stingers have an “E” badge.

I know the Japanese used to do that, each model had its own badges, especially the luxury ones.

e.g. Toyota Harrier a.k.a. formerly Lexus RX, now fancy JDM RAV4

Kinda like how Impala had, er, Impala badges.

Never thought of that! But I’d rather have the kia badge!

I guess it’s a case of “I’m not paying that much for a Kia/Hyundai/Toyota/Nissan/Honda”.
