They did. It looks better from some angles.
But that’s how convertibles work. You sacrifice roof line and storage space and water tightness and reliability and cost and weight and security and durability so that you can take the roof off. More so for folding hard tops, much more so for the earlier ones.
Targa tops have far fewer compromises :)

I had the same feeling maybe 5 years ago when I saw a JC Cosmo in a parking lot. There are heaps of cars I don’t know (from the 20s for example, or 50s, etc) but not when it comes to modern cars. I couldn’t even have named the manufacturer or country!
I was most upset.

Haha yes! And i can only imagine the roof would break eventually and getting parts could be a nightmare. Ute becomes a legitimate option!
