Kinja'd!!!

Paired with an automatic It’s the slowest vehicle ive ever driven.

I sold the 95 Camaro a couple days ago so I replaced it with this $500 Benz. The interiors roached(1.5/10) and the exteriors not far behind(3/10). But it’ just a daily To Get To Work while the sc400's down(again). Mechanically it works fairly well, I drove it 60 miles home and it did it fine.

Some of the issues: Shifts hard in first, tach dosent work, half the windows roll down, cracked windshield, bent hood near the base of said windshield, the gas pedal falls off the hinge that it actuates, 2 of the blinkers are broken(the light works but the plastic lenses broken), part of driver seat is just laying in the car and moves around willy nilly. These are the main issues I’ve found in the past hour.

Overall I’m pleased though, it runs and drives.

Now crank the boost and diesel pump and enjoy a car that’s less of a chore to get up to speed :P

Try the non-turbo version. I test drive one that for sale near me whan I was shopping for my first car back in the late ‘90s... There was a turbo for sale too, but the non-turbo was like $800 less... HOLY SLOW CAR BATMAN!

My friend LC had one with a manual, she was the scariest driver I ever rode with, becuase it was so slow the only way yo make decent time was by maintaining momentum... You haven’t shat yourself until you’ve shat yourself in the passenger seat of an ‘80s benz diesel attempting to maintain 40+MPH UP a twisty mountain road in Vermont, in winter... never lift, never blink; that was her motto.

Sounds like someone’s in the market for an engine swap. I bet a turbo 4 crate motor from ford or Chevy would be quicker

That’s a great story, can’t imagine one of these without a turbo

Mine was a VW Rabbit diesel that a high school friend had. It was glacial even compared to its contemporaries. Going over mountain passes in that thing was an exercise in frustration.

$500 for a running example is a hell of a deal. My brother owned a few of these and they’re great cars. One his had a blown turbo took about fifteen minutes to get to sixty.

You call that slow? I’ve driven a Mk1 Escort with all of 55bhp on a good day and a Borg Warner automatic box. That’s slow.

I’d check the throttle linkage. My grandmother had one with a broken linkage that wouldn’t open the throttle past about 1/4

I got the feeling that it would go across the county without any mechanical issues

Mercedes 240d, slightly smaller chassis, but take away 1 cylinder from the 300, and take away the turbo. 240d with the automatic trans is 0-60 in about 31 seconds. Also I believe it does the 1/4 mile in about 30 seconds. Let that sink in 1/4 mile time is faster than 0-60 time.

By the way nice 300SD. They are tanks and last really well. Plus it seems to fit in with the coloring of the test of the cars in the picture.

In my AO the ones with issues are at least $1400, but you cam get pretty good runners for $3k. I want a wagon to turn into a camping car.

Try one without the turbo. It’s scary slow. As in - shouldn’t be allowed to operate on modern roads - kind of slow.

They are bank-vault solid cars.
