Don’t worry. Lotus are lightweight, you likely only need a Xmas ribbon to fix it.

What could possibly go wrong?

An S is my next car frontrunner! Caymans don’t do it for me and every middle manager in the Boston area drives one. The Evora ont he other hand is one of the most beautiful cars on sale IMO.

Colin Chapman would be proud of this lightening method.

A lotus evora’s glove box being about twice as open as intended

That’s what you get for letting it open under the forces of gravity!

I am going to guess the lines are extrusion lines on plastic, and that the glovebox is not made out of cardboard for lightness.

This means you get to have someone at the dealer take apart your car and put it back together hopefully better than the person at the factory.

I haven’t decided on which model, but a Lotus will definitely be my next car.

I believe Lotus will call that an unnecessary luxury and remove it under warranty. Why fix it when you can add lightness by removing the glove box altogether?

Supposedly Elises hold their value really well.

Most of them do, surprisingly. I probably won’t jump into a pristine example as I’ll want to throw it around.

Yep exactly, I’m no baller and would be going for a lightly used example. I want to DD it. I think an Elise would be pushing it as a daily, nobody lasts long doing that haha.

Is it made out of cardboard?

From what I hear, it’s not that fun!

I lasted about a year, give or take, of 2.5 years of ownership. It’s definitely doable and was never an issue for me (I was only 24 at the time). Just dont take it on long road trips like I did.

I’m suspecting coroplast.

Basically, yes, except it’s plastic instead of paper. Lightweight, durable (there’s a reason the USPS makes mail transport containers out of it ), and cheap... but it looks incredibly cheap.

Ah, I see it now. I actually thought I was looking at the rear of the car with the nameplate there, but it looked like the interior....

Thanks!

So how long is too long behind the wheel of one of those? Or is it ergonomic enough to be not so bad if you get out every 1-2 hours?

I took it on a 5 hour trip and that was just too long. It’s just a rough ride and it rattled my whole body to soreness. I think if you stopped a lot then it’d be okay, but it’s really not all that fun for long distances (although the first few 4 hour trips in the WA mountains were a blast, but eventually the long trips lost their fun). If you have a passenger prepare for them to be even more displeased than you.
