Kinja'd!!!

The first thing that happens when you come down for Christmas morning, is your five year old lies to you.

I’m playing Lego with the little one, whilst the big one is in her room awaiting her fate. She’s not getting any cookies today now (she stole her sister’s cookie and lied about it).

Merry Christmas Oppo!

Update:

We made her stay in her room until breakfast was ready. Then I had a talk with her. She took her consequence well. We did presents after breakfast.

I brought a shower cookie upstairs with me. Don’t judge me!

Merry Christmas to you and yours. Breakfast during the break?

Merry Christmas! I know the feeling. I had to yell at my 7 year old son before bed last because of his terrible attitiude at Xmas Eve dinner. He got a new helmet for go-karting and now he doesn’t get to use it during winter break (which pisses me off even more because it means that I don’t get to go go-karting either!)

When I was a kid, I used to break into the office in whatever house we were living in to see what my parents got me.

Then on Christmas I’d pretend like I haven’t seen the item before.

An interesting note is that I also knew which presents my parents took back to the stores because they didn’t know how to budget for Christmas. They’d do unchecked spending, take a look at their accounts, then take stuff back. Of course, I wouldn’t know that if I didn’t break into their office.

It’s irrelevant anyway since come February or so, my parents would take our presents and pawn them to pay the bills. I began to see Christmas presents as temporary gifts that come a month or two down the road, I’d never see again.

Yup, parenting is a pain sometimes. But punishments must be followed through or they will eat you alive. Good on you for making the tough call. It’s tough sometimes.

Yeah, we made her sit in her room until breakfast was ready. Then I had a talk with her and we did presents after breakfast. Salvaged a good morning out of it.

Ugh! That sucks!

Alternative? You go go-karting while he watches jealously?

I’m going to enjoy eating cookies in front of my daughter today.

Yeah, it sucks being the adult. We were smart enough not to threaten to take away all her presents, because we weren’t prepared to follow through with that.

Gadamn, that’s depressing!

I hereby gift you a ride in the RallyMetro. All you have to do is show up at Byron with a helmet. Nobody can pawn that, because it has no cash value.

I got to that point yesterday but instead of threatening to take them away, I told them I’d leave them at my mothers house, that is 1-1/2 hour away. And I was ready to follow through, but that would’ve been bad. Not my finest hour, but it happens sometimes. Definitely have to choose our words carefully.

Wow, that is really sad to hear. I am sorry about that.

I am with Shop-Teacher. You can get a ride in and drive (if you’re up for it) the Goat. Just let me know if you’re ever near me in California.
