I’ve heard that critics love it while fans hate it.

Saw it two days ago with the kids and wife we liked it a lot. Lots of cool stuff going on in there. Can’t wait to own it so we can rewatch and pick up all the details we missed the 1st go round.

I loved it. Not perfect, but it addresses flaws in the overall story and sets the stage for some actual development in the Skywalker saga while staying true to what makes the franchise what it is. I’m really looking forward to the next movie.

I loved it. I was honestly expecting it to be a little unpredictable with how much some fans are losing their shit (Not that it was all that predictable).

I’ve seen a lot of backlash in fan reviews, but of fans I know personally most seem to like it, myself included.

I liked it after digesting the movie for half a day. Leaving the theater was pretty indifferent. The fact that the story was unpredictable help keep my attention. Excited for the new characters and to see how they’ll develop.

This is pretty much the exact reaction I had. The couple times I’ve actually given it some thought I’ve started to think it really has issues. But who cares it was fun and I’m going to see it again on the 26th.

A certain subset of fans, and not nearly in the way they were in the prequels.

I honestly feel like the issues it has are no greater than issues in the original trilogy, but people don’t like to think that the OT was flawed. Rose-tinted glasses and all that.

This. I’m a big fan but parts of the OT have pretty big holes. Heck, the acting in ANH is pretty bad.

There are some cool bits in it, but there are also at least ten things that annoyed me or worse. This is funny:

Nearly every critique I’ve read of TLJ could be applied to Empire, and in fact were applied to Empire when it first came out. Now Empire is generally regarded as the best of the OT.

The movie is a mixed bag if you ask me. My only real complaint is the Finn, Rose relationship. Until they kiss there was ZERO hit that they were anything but good friends.

I liked it for the numerous plot twists I didn’t see coming, and the desicion to make Rey’s parents unimportant, but I’m for sure going to watch it again, I’m just not in a hurry to have a second theateer viewing like I did with The Force Awakens.

I think the biggest reason that people are mad is the lack of Snoke’s backstory, but I’ve come over to the argument that he didn’t need one. Although I loved the theory that he was Mace Windu.

Glad you pointed this video out, but, dang, an hour and a half of commentary? Fun to watch, but I don’t think I’ll watch it all.

I’ve been a SW fan since I discovered it as a child, shortly before Timothy Zahn & Kevin J. Anderson started making “Expanded Universe” books, of which I devoured and own a wide selection of.

I really enjoyed TLJ.

There are things I’ve had done differently, but it felt more unique and independent than TFA, something that a fan would have made, and I kind of wish Rian Johnson was coming back to do Ep. 9, especially instead of J.J.

My greatest criticism is SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T SEEN IT, OK YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED which of Anakin Skywalker’s children didn’t survive, especially since one of the actors died in real life. To me - especially with the sudden extravehicular space journey she took (I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!) - Leia should have had the showdown on Crait, where she knocked over the walkers domino-style, pulls the shuttle from the air, and maybe ripped the core out of the ram weapon, all while the Resistance members escape out the back. This effort fatally exhausts her - reasonable since she just was shown recovering from space exposure - and she fades into the Force as Kylo watches helplessly from the wreckage. This angers Kylo - to “rhyme” with Anakin Skywalker’s reaction to Shmi Skywalker’s death in Ep. 2: AotC - but he’s helplessly stuck and watches the Millennium Falcon fly off. Maybe we see him use the Force to angrily start assembling a space-capable vessel from all the wreckage around him, channeling the mechanical skills of his father? Or having to ask Hux for help and Hux being smug that Kylo was unsuccessful stopping a shipload of escapees from attaining brief freedom. Luke’s ending scene was great, but should have happened towards or at the end of Episode 9, when the galaxy was at a tentative peace, and a new group of Force-sensitives were beginning to fin each other - maybe Rey meeting the child from the very end of TLJ? So many possibilities.

The Darth Jar Jar Theory has a lot of analysis behind it. It’s pretty hilarious.

I watched it on 1.5x speed (something I’ve started doing to a surprising amount of non-music videos) and it’s much more watchable. 2x speed could work for someone with faster hearing, haha, and be done in just 45 minutes

As a medium-core fan, I really really liked it! My hardcore Star Wars fan friends didn’t much though. Seems like they basically think there were too many “light” scenes. As in like laughter etc. It wasn’t dark enough... That is a terrible reason to like/dislike something.

I feel. I will probably like it. And I’m certainly no hardcore fan, though I thought they had some great characters in the prequel. The girl was bad-ass. I especially liked the seen where she owned Darth Junior. I wouldn’t be surprised if Junior had a change of heart and he and she hooked up.
