Kinja'd!!!

Both the 2000 Mustang with the 3.8 V6 and the 2017 CR-V with the turbo 1.5 I4 make the same amount of power from the factory (190 horsepower). Amazing what seventeen years can do.

i’m guessing the 0-100kmh times will favour the Honda

Looks good with steelers.

I’m guessing no, but do the new CR-V’s still come with a fold down picnic table..?

Oh, I’m gonna stretch this a little bit. The N/A 2.5L 4cyl in my Colorado makes 5 more hp than the N/A 4.3L V6 available in the Silverado only one year prior. (2015 vs 2014, 200 vs 195)

I was somewhat shocked to learn that my friend’s mom’s 2013 Silverado had a nearly identical drivetrain to my 97 Blazer. Same 4L60E, but I think her 4.3 made 10-15hp more.

Yeah, they kept that sucker around for a long time strictly as a “value option.” I’m glad that they finally updated it for the new 2014s. The last time the 4.3 got anything really new, it was with the Gen II V8. And the new 4.3 now is based on the Gen V, so you can imagine how much they let it linger and be uncompetitive (besides decent torque production). I think it did a lot of damage to the reputation of that V6 in general, because the new ones make more power and have a better torque curve of the V8 that the old ones were based on.

Not to mention automatic transmissions. I started driving in the ‘80s, so had an abiding hatred of slushboxes: as much as 25% drivetrain losses! Anyone else remember the first time they drove the automatic version of a ‘70s or ‘80s econobox and the panic when you pulled out only to realize you could run faster than that? Terrifying!

Yup, amazing what times does.

The 2.7L V6 in my 2015 F150 makes 325 hp / 375 lbs ft torque, rated for 18 city / 26 hwy.

The “biggest” engine in my old 2000 F150 5.4L V8 made 260 hp / 350 lbs ft torque, rated for 15 city / 19 hwy.
