Production actually started in January 1993. April was the launch of the car itself on dealer lots.

While you’re technically correct, production date is much harder to prove than date of first registration. Date of first registration is in *all* the paperwork, date of production is, maybe, encrypted in the VIN. So to make life easier when importing from Europe, just go with date of first registration.

They’ve been legal in Australia since initial production and I’ve never seen one. Not even at this French car festival I went to.

Don’t get your hopes too high
