Kinja'd!!!

I’m looking to buy a P71. I’ve watched the youtube vids on what to look for an so on. I know their cheap dependable transportation.

I’m only looking at vic withs 110k miles and below. I’d rather spend a little more for the lower mileage and maybe not been so beat to death.

Anything I should look out for? I’ve always wanted one but never had one. So going to fulfill my wish and own one of my regular car dream cars.

I want a push bar and the a pillar light. I mean I want to complete the look as much as I think I legally can. I dont need the lights up top. Just the push bar and a pillar is fine.

Just some random pic I pulled off the net. Not mine at all.

Don’t make it look like a cop car.

Try to get an 04 or an 10-11. Look out for leaky intake manifolds and misfires.

Get a 10-11 because they have all the upgrades (4R75w, 31-spline axles, nicer steering wheels, etc.) and are the newest, ideally look for a detective’s car. I know it’s a 4000lb car, but you will notice the weight of a push bar. A-pillar light is hella useful for pizza delivery tho. Make sure any recalls are tended to, do a full service and invest in Mustang alloys and summer tires or an LSD if your car is open diff instead of a push bar.

Be aware that you will very possibly have to do a front end job on any that are over 90,000 miles. Part’s aren’t too expensive, the work itself isn’t that hard, but it is A Thing.

Was looking at RockAuto at different components and realizing that I took the expensive route with prior cars. This car is CHEAP. I’ve been used to Hellcat parts and Ram truck parts. I could throw like 1500 in parts at it and damn near go through every major system.

Was looking at 2010 detectives car. 97k in white. I’d prefer a black one but white is fine. I’m aware of the paint issues and I was going to look into repainting the car. Same color, just new application.

Plan on making it a PRIME example of a P71.

Why not?

Was looking at a 2010 with 97k in white.

Just out of curiosity, why not paint it a different white to throw your own spin on it? Maybe something with a pearl?

I just don’t think it’ll look right in anything other than it’s factory intended colors. I’ve seen the donk ones and I honestly don’t care for the color on the car.

Does it have to be a P71 specifically? You’ll have more luck in the year and mileage ranges you’re looking for if you peruse the grandparents’ Panthers (Grand Marquis & Town Car), but police-spec upgrades swap over fairly readily. Plus more comfort and a full back seat if you want.

I’d prefer a crown vic. Just never cared for the other platform options.

Gotcha.

There’s also the option of buying a Grand Marquis and swapping over the front and rear fascias from a CVPI. Just thinking outside the box.

Yea but in my area(within 150 miles) there’s 1000x more CV’s than anything else. I do see your point in swapping over parts. Just alot of extra work when I already plan on doing some stuff. I already got a line on a damn near perfect black leather interior.

Fair enough on the pearl white, although CM Autowerkz did one up in Deep Impact Blue and it looks spectacular.

That one looks great. It’s 19k price on the other hand, not so much.

I’m still looking. I’ve been trying to get ahold of this guy in indy selling a 97k mile black one for like 2k. Msg him and no response. He keeps posting his ad but no phone number. Just an email. But he doesn’t respond to them.

It’s got dual LED a pillar lights, also has a push bar but it’s not installed. Looks great other than minor stuff and I think if I could get ahold of him I’d own it.

I just want a cheap winter beater to have a little fun in, maybe keep it around when the warmer weather rolls in.
