Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The article discusses ‘some’ 1500's. Well which ones?

Kinja'd!!!

Update, 10:30 AM eastern Dec 23: so I checked the VIN at the NHTSA site and it had nothing on this. Some of the articles reference that a fix is in development. So perhaps it’s too soon for it to be there. Apparently FCA just did the public release to advise that you need to be careful and set the parking brake. After all the manufacturers have been accused of covering up problems I guess the standard now is get the info out before you get accused of covering up and dodging a recall, even if you are not yet ready with your answer.

Sounds like those that have the 6 speed transmission in the lower end trims. If you have the 8 speed you should be ok.

Have you checked your VIN through the NHTSA website?

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

You could also call the nearest dealer tomorrow and have them check.

Errr... WHEN the recall goes live for dealers I can check your VIN. I left work at 3pm today and nothing had been announced yet.

Thanks. The article I linked to said that but it also said this which made me think it wasn’t all column shifters.

The company said the recall affects certain 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs. Although most of the vehicles in the recall are heavy-duty trucks, some 2009-2017 Ram 1500 pickups are also included.

That would mean I’d have to go outside in the cold and wet. Much easier for my lazy self to see if the wisdom of oppo coudl answer.

I’ll do that today.

Of course I went for the cheapest truck possible with the highest tow capacity. That would be with a 6 speed.

It’s kind of a nuisance recall. The interlock that makes you keep your foot on the brake to shift out of park fails. I think some cars as late as the 1960's that didn’t have that.

Probably because the 3/4 and above trucks have more column shifters where 1500s generally have the dial

Outside? Ew!! Do you have a registration or title copy inside that would have the VIN? My insurance policy lists the VIN on the paperwork I keep in my safe.
