Let’s say you want to buy a 2016 CTS-V, but it is a bigger car then you are used to. So after buying it you take it around and park at your favorite shop dinner place, but not used to the size you whack the front splitter. Wanna replace that?

2016 CTS-V front splitter in black GM list $226.02

2016 CTS-V Carbon Package front splitter GM list $2002.98

That’s right, that carbon splitter costs 10 times as much as the black one. I guess at least it will break your deposit for insurance to cover it....

But my weight savings, for both the bumper and my wallet.

That car pictured has proximity sensors.. Don’t ignore those warning and you won’t have tok pay the price.

I can’t imagine the carbon there would save much weight compared to the plastic one

Plus don’t they park them selves??

Well this guy ruined his plastic one on his driveway.. So I doubt the parking sensors would have helped there

Speaking from experience, those sensors aren’t very good at detecting things like parking blocks and curbs.

If it was ruined on the driveway due to the angle of the driveway he should not fix it because it will break again.

I have the problem, when I fix things they break again. If I leave things messed up they do not get damaged again, specifically bumper covers.

I’ve got a mirror that’s epoxied on and heat that doesn’t work (probably have to flush the heater core). They’ve been that way for 5 years and 70k at least. I figured the car’d be dead by now, but it’s still going. I chuckled to myself on my way home from work, warming my hand by the plug-in heater how I could have had regular heat now if I’d have just fixed it years ago. Stupid college me.

If you have to worry about something like that, then you can’t afford the car.

Hadn’t he used his driveway before and new that it had an attack curb? Mind does as well and my Nissan Versa’s front skirt drags if I’m not careful. I need to put something in the street to make the curb less of a bite.

MSRP for a 2016 CTS-V is $83,995. That mean in 4 years it’ll sell for $40k. A very easily budgeted sum for a working stiff who wants a fun car. But $2k for a splitter then is a bit much

My buddy has an ATSV and a carbon fetish. I dont think he has broken his yet.

Is there a reason you couldn’t bolt the plastic one on in place of the carbon one?

Unless go nuts and have John Hennessy tune it, then lay custom paint and drop custom forgeline rims.... then the MSRP jumps to $160k

No, look what older CTS-V’s are going for. I’d love to but one but still quite expensive.

I wouldn’t put carbon down there to begin with. Get the plastic one, wrap it with carbon print, and wow the nobody who will notice it.

Is it me, or do the wheels on those CTS-Vs look vaguely like the wheels on the 2013 Honda Accord Sport?

If I could afford said vehicle and I would worry about it. 2k for a splitter is retarded anyway. If I fucked it up, I’d get the black one and carbon fiber wrap it. The next guy probably won’t notice it until it breaks anyway. Unless they are REALLY looking. Sure I’m a dick, but only to the next guy and he probably won’t ever know who I am.

What is the point of a carbon package on a 4,000lb sedan? If you really love the look that much get the regular CTS-V and have whatever parts you want with the carbon look wrapped....
