Here is a rundown of my Christmas travel plans starting today:
Driving an hour home from work today
Packing the last couple of things and hopefully eating something
Walking to the nearest Orange Line bus about 10 minutes away on foot and riding the bus for about 40 minutes
Riding a greyhound bus from North Hollywood to the downtown Greyhound station (30 minutes?)
Greyhound bus from LA to Las Vegas (5 hours), arriving around 5am
Some sort of bus from the station to the airport (25 minutes)
Flight from Las Vegas to Philadelphia at 1150am on Spirit Airlines with no luggage because Spirit, landing in PA around 730pm local time
Rental Car from Alamo at PHL
Drive about an hour to Edison, NJ (totals up to about 13 hours of being in motion, ~24 hours since leaving my apartment, or ~36 hours since a real bed)
Saturday, Sunday, Monday are family stuff
On Monday (christmas) Return rental car to PHL by like 7pm to make my flight
825pm flight to Las Vegas on Spirit again, landing at 1106pm
Uber to the greyhound station to somehow make the 12am greyhound bus back to Los Angeles
Greyhound bus from Las Vegas to LA (5 hours), arriving around 5am
Greyhound bus to North Hollywood, arriving sometime around 630am
Orange Line bus to home, ideally after all this before 8am Tuesday
SLEEP ALL DAY BECAUSE I NEED SLEEP (at least there is less waiting on the way home, assuming I make that 12am bus)
Note that I will basically not sleep tonight, although I will certainly try on the bus from LA and I did pack a pillow and blanket so I will gladly find a floor to sleep on in Las Vegas airport. It will surely be miserable but hey at least I didnt pay very much for this adventure! Yeah yeah cost of time and all that, but it wasnt worth $800 to fly in and have to take off more days because otherwise it would have been $1000+. Well worth paying under $400 including all the extra meals I will end up buying to sustain myself.
Crazy stuff like this happening would certainly make traveling suck:

I’m driving to Alabama Christmas Eve morning (6ish hours), and then back Christmas afternoon, because I can only deal with so much family.

Driving from Arkansas to Tulsa on Christmas.
Flying to Houston.
Flying back to Tulsa a few days later.
Driving back to Utah.

That is a long ass drive lol. I know from Arkansas to California was 4 days of driving for me so to do most of that in a day would surely suck. You have quite the jam packed adventure too!

Planes, buses, and automobiles! Not quite as good as planes train and automobiles. Buses suck, you will find this out soon enough.

No more long drives after work! I’m leaving Saturday.
Getting in the Miata and taking the long, scenic route to Bakersfield. Then hopping on 5 North and cutting across multiple freeways until I end up in civilization again.

Oh I am well aware how much buses suck. I actually quite like trains, I wish there were more of them in LA. A nice metrolink running down the middle of the 101 would be good. Even if it moved at 30mph, it would be going like ten times the speed of traffic there!
I was originally going to just drive but my main concern was just being too tired to drive safely. Yeah this will suck but at least I dont have to put in any effort, just wait around a while and then I will get where I need to go. And really its just the waiting that is such a time sync. It would have been nice if there was a bus at like 4am that arrived around 9 or 10, then I could just go to bed early and then this whole thing wouldnt be so bad.

At noon on Cristmas Eve I board the ferry and then drive two hours to central MA to attend Wigilia dinner [prounounced vuh-lee-uh, (thanks, Poland)] with my Dad’s side of the family.
I spend the night and christmas morning at his place, then in the afternoon I drive down to Providence and join my Mom, brother, sisters, and grandparents at the airport. We board a plane to Orlando at 5:30 and will be spending the following 4 days at Disney before returning home.

Leaving work early tomorrow to catch the last flight to Toronto (going to surprise my sisters with a visit), then leaving on boxing day at some point in the afternoon. No, I’m not excited to be going to Pearson International Airport, because gods damn there are too many people.

My trip yesterday was simple:
Uber to the airport (though was like 25% more than normal, possibly I’d have been better off driving as parking at the airport has gotten cheaper). Uber was a Chevy Malibu and as you would expect, un-noteworthy in every way.
737-900 for the ~3:30 flight.
Mom picked me up in my parent’s S80 for the ride to their house.

i plan on getting hammered early Xmas Eve, traveling to my firepit and LIGHTINg THAT SHIT UP. Hopefully if i stop drinking early enough I wont be hung over for the OMG SANTA CAME at 6am from the Opposaurus children
