The T Bird has a triangle of death air cleaner. He wants stock.

Kinja'd!!!

This needs restoration and is still expensive. Should I just buy aftermarket?

IMO go 14" aftermarket or w/e and never look back. Zero reason to have this unless you are staying factory stock or you *really* like the way it looks.

Edit: And it may be a slight power increase going aftermarket.

Restoration is pretty easy on aircleaners. Sand/sandblast and paint.

I say ditch the triangle for a decent aftermarket unit. If he wants to go stock down the road he can. Just keep an eye out for one cheaper locally in hopes of getting lucky.

If set on OEM, try and find a swap meet instead. I replaced my triangle with a circle 14” Edlebrock that I picked up from AdvanceAuto or someplace equivalent.

Depends on how much authenticity means to you and to the value of the car. For practicality, probably not.

Yes. Unless you need something original, this is way overpriced.

I’d say if he wants to go stock find a classic auto salvage yard. Otherwise go aftermarket for now until a cheap one pops up.

Seems dear, maybe shop around junkyards first? I wonder if it is any different for other years where they used the same engine (I think your car is a 429, right?).

Get an el cheapo aftermarket as a stop-gap. Gotta get that triangle of death off right away. Then he can start prowling junkyards looking for a stocker to restore. That’s a fun way into junkyarding, as it’s an easy part to pull.
