I hate how people paint the defectors in a bad light because the north koreans decide to shoot their “comrades” after defecting. You’re probably right, but that’s all the more reason to do what we can to welcome defectors and work towards putting an end to that horrific regime. If that’s how they respond to people being treated so horribly that they will risk getting shot and killed to leave your country, then that’s a little fucked up.
Is there another country where you are shot on sight for leaving?

Someone on the FP last time said that defectors are “cowards” for getting friends/family killed by escaping. ANd then proceeded to call me/others who disagreed with him “cowards”. 50/50 chance he is a russian or north korean sympathizer given his comment history.

I don’t think there’s many countries that require walls to keep people from escaping as opposed to entering. The whole place is the world’s biggest prison, with 25 million inmates.
