Kinja'd!!!

Planned obsolescence is REAL !! You’ll never believe what #923353 is! So it says in the Book of Jobs, lol. I have a 6S+, and ran iOS 9 until last month, skipping 10 and 11 at the start. Battery life honeymoon ended on my iPhone after a year and it sucks in the winter months (go figure).

I’m surprised and not surprised by how many people were shocked by this.

Solution: BUY ANOTHER BATTERY

Will probably do that when I replace my cracked screen. I wonder if Apple is the BMW of phone companies.... The “ultimate phoning machine”

yea, that would get me to buy a new phone, but it wouldn’t be a new Apple.

So basically it does a battery check if you fail, runs slower? So if you put in a new battery this shouldnt have an effect? It does not state that in the article, based on that I just assume it boat anchors you regradless.. correct me if wrong. I know nothing of apples.

The suggestion of buying a new battery is correct, or at least would be should Apple have made the phones in a way that allows for better access to replace the battery.

It limits the peak power of the processor so that the draw from the battery doesn’t spike to levels that cause the battery to not be able to sustain the required output. It’s how Apple fixed the issue from a little while ago where 6 and 6s were seeming to shut down at random.

so regardless of battery health it will slow your device?

No, it looks at how the battery is degrading with age and adapts from there. If the battery isn’t degrading much the peak performance won’t be throttled back.

Have a 6S Plus - not seeing a big difference, but did have a few shutdowns and podcast pauses a while back.

I am not surprised. Apple has always been short on morals. IMO this should be the tech equivalent to the VW dieselgate but everyone is, once gain, giving Apple a pass. Probably because all the journalists writing articles are using them and worship their PCs like god because they were trained to at college and by marketing lol.

And this is why phones need removable batteries
