Kinja'd!!!

Made a detour into a big empty church parking lot on the way to work this morning for my Speed6's first snownuts. It did real real good.

There’s plenty of good snow to do it up there! I wasn’t greedy, I only claimed one light pole :)

My old apartment was across the street from a big church parking lot. I did many snownuts in that parking lot with the Mazdaspeed 6 that I owned at the time. Many other people would also do snownuts in that parking lot so whenever it snowed I would often hear random engine revving and tire spinning noises from across the street.

Somehow all of last winter it never occurred to me to do snownuts in my 335xi. I must rectify this at the earliest opportunity.

Church parking lots are the best. They’re generally only used once or twice a week so they’re in good condition!

This particular church was often busy throughout the week but emptied out at night, so at night there’d be random snownut noises and I’d look across the street and oh hey there’s another WRX or Evo or somebody doing some snownuts. It was a Mormon church. I guess Mormons really like their get-togethers?

It is an ambition of mine to re-install fender-liners in my MR2 and drive to a snowy area for this exact purpose. SoCal is great for rust prevention but not as great for powdery donuts.

I really wanted to do some this morning. However, I need to drive across the country tomorrow. The possibility of an angle gear or Haldex explosion wasn’t worth the potential fun.

Daughter called last night. She has a new CUV(I know, the shame, right?) and a new internship over a notorious local mountain. I told her the best present she could give me would be a pic of a parking lot after a few snownuts and drift-slide-catches. Reminded her that her new car is taller & heavier and AWD vs 4wd like the Subaru I took her out to practice in all thru middle & high school.

“Go play!” I said. “Tell the cop the same thing I did when we got pulled back then: your daddy said he wasn’t gonna raise a stupid panicky driver .”

I’m looking forward to snow myself: gotta see what the new-to-me Previa will do. Slings Gap, here I come!

People has started to park there when I just went, the high school parking lot is empty, though. Quite a bit less secluded unfortunately.

Curses! I was actually surprised there wasn’t anyone there when I was sliding around at 8:15 or so.

thanks! I tries.

I’ll certainly post them! A comely lady friend has agreed to be my partner in crime(and if needed, driver whilst I push), and I am gathering shovels&rakes&implements of destruction (come-along, cable, straps, bags of sand) and awaiting a favorable weather report. I’m hoping for 8-10" so I can test it places I used to take my various Roos

Thanks for the inspiration. Was the first time I’ve tried snownuts. I was less than successful but it was fun screwing around anyways.

I’d imagine an MR car would be a bit trickier than AWD. Practice makes perfect!
