I have about 30 hours invested so far in a model that helps determine what you have (premise: “crossover” isn’t a thing, they’re all hatchbacks, wagons, or SUVs).
It works okay, but there are always a lot of key stats that you can’t easily find, like distance from C- to D-pillar or depth vs height of cargo area.
If I had a full day to take my tape measure to Carmax, I could solve this thing.
BTW, I’m thinking hatchback on the Equinox. It needs another 6”+ to be a wagon. Gut feel.

Some people like to sit up high - my father always has, regardless, “I want to be able to see”. I on the other hand want to be be down on the deck so I can feel everything and slice around all those too tall SUVs - always have...

I saw a very serious looking successful young man in an X6. He looked so intent, and satisfied speeding while making a left hand turn through an intersection. All I could think was “look at that goofy ass dude trying to be Jason Statham in his mom’s car. If that same guy had been in a handsome sport sedan I would have believed the image he was projecting.

Because a lot of baby boomers have artificial hips, knees,etc. Everyone I know over the age of 55 wants a crossover because they can’t get into a low car anymore. And that group of people is getting larger by the hour.

Because they’d still suck to drive.
Crossovers and the cars they were built from are almost never that fun to drive. Granted, the wagon version would have a lower COG and a lower overall weight and less tire sidewall, but those things are no guarantee that it will handle or accelerate or respond well.
The euro wagons that everyone drools over were built to handle and accelerate decently while still hauling. The Volvo V50 I had was a great little car, even without being the T5 turbo version. The trick was, the S40 it was based on is also a great little car.
