It came out early in my time in college, and I saw the video at the same time as first hearing the song. I thought maybe with the Czech protester angle thing it was a much older song at the time, that and the extremely throwback musical style.

There was a period in the mid-00s where they were putting a bunch of vaguely hipster music in their commercials. I being oh so cool actually made a mix CD of ripped MP3s that I downloaded off Kazaa called “songs like Pontiac commercials.”
