I want the seats (front and back) in my 1987 convertible (Peugeot 205 CTI) reupholstered. Black poor quality/worn fabric replaced, colored unworn fabric retained (because originality). New leather for the steering wheel. What would a decent price be for this job?

If we ever get to meet during an Oppomeet or something, pl;ease bring the 205 GTi :)

I’ve always wanted to drive one on proper roads and have yet to do it haha

About tree-fiddy?

I’ve never paid for it to be done, but I’ve swapped out seat covers several times. They usually have run me $300-$400, but I’ve been buying “leather” covers.

first image - it looks like the accelerator is overlapping the brake pedal. If so, you may gain tons of horsepower by simply cutting the gas pedal so that it doesn’t apply brakes when you his the accelerator.

I took my motorcycle seat to get re-upholstered. I had vinyl. I wanted leather. 500 dollars later, i had enough leather to go around my ass. I should have just used 100 dollar bills instead.

I have a vette with really busted up leather seats. I would love to get new seats, but everything for the vette starts with a number and is followed by many zeros after that before it hits a decimal point. Guess I’ll live with it for now.

See if you can find replacement seats on ebay or craigslist

I’ve sold my GTi to a Frenchman last month. I still have the pictured CTi though, but unlike my GTi it isn’t all that original as the engine was a basket case. It’s being restored, with almost everything rubbery renewed, the (2.0t XU10J2TE) donor engine refurbished, GTi 1.9 suspension installed and all rust removed.

I’ll be at the meet in Wales and I hope to bring the CTi then. If it’s done. You’d be welcome to drive it then, obviously.

Just an impression:

I know a proper place in Rotterdam that does reupholstering. Euroleer, check them out. (theyre called ‘Euroleather’, but I do believe they do all kinds of reupholstery.

The first image is actually from the ad I bought it from. I had the previous owner remove those pedal covers before I picked it up.

Damn that looks good! Sad for the GTi though... I love those things! I won’t make it to this meet, but I’ll be there as soon as possible. Lots of changes with the car export business becoming more and more of a full time job, I’ll have to move out closer to my work in the next couple months. Once I’m all set, I’ll start figuring out how how to get my ass back to france for a few weeks.... Worst case scenario I’ll try to organize a Nurburgring trip later next year with as many Oppo as possible :)

I REALLY want to bring my Mini there. I already have proper tires for it haha

Did that make the car faster?

Swapping seat covers can be done but finding used ones in decent condition is very hard and if you do find some it’ll be prohibitively expensive. These cars are 30 years old, the seats are aggressively bolstered (=prone to wear) and the’re appreciating rapidly (a decent 1980s GTi is over €10k = more people are starting to restore them).

For body grabbing bucket seats in a classic I’m restoring at great expense? Hell no.
