Ugh, I really like this design but it’s a little unsettling given the type that prefer to fly the Gadsden.
I always thought it was supposed to be a tongue or fire (I never looked closely, okay?), nope, it’s supposed to be a Moor in the serpent’s mouth.
It’s clever and I like it, I just don’t know.

So no person of the “type” you’re thinking would ever actually make the connection of the Gadsden to this shirt (I’m pissed they’ve claimed this as theirs, by the way, as I’m sure many indigenous peoples were pissed at Hitler’s co-opting of the swastika). If you’re conflicted about the logo’s design itself and its history, that’s another story.
It’s an interesting dilemma... Should modern Alfa change it to a tongue or fire, or leave it as is and address it and the shameful history surrounding it? Similar to the current dealings with Confederate monuments, it seems. Hard not to side with the side that would want it changed/torn down. This stuff belong in a history museum, not in the town square (or on a modern sports car).
It is a very clever shirt.

The Alfa logo has its own historical context, and Alfa has its own spin on it, I‘m okay with that I think. It’s just that the the logo combined with what the Gadsden has come to symbolize (not that I’m happy about that either) just makes for a disconcerting crossroad in my mind.
I am %100 certain that wasn’t the intent of the blipshift design, of course, and I really want to buy it. I’m just overthinking things.
