The benching continues...

Kinja'd!!!

Built the third bench, for 12 feet of new workbench space. Also added a backsplash so i don’t loose stuff between the wall and bench, and added lower shelves.

Kinja'd!!!

Them i built a portable stand for the table saw so i can set it up wherever fits best for a given project. The stand top has some carefully positioned plywood bits so the saw can’t slide around on top. The saw and stand just barely fit under the miter saw bench.

Kinja'd!!!

Next step is to disassemble some no longer needed shelves and use the wood to make a long shelf above the benches. And add some lights and plugs. Then i get to sort everything and find proper away places so i spend less time digging through random bins and piles of tools/supplies.

But digging through random bins and piles is the best part!

That fits pretty good! So nice to tuck that stuff out of the way. I like the pressure-treated feet, too.

That looks nice. So jealous, really makes me wish I had a garage or basement.

Nice. What’s your plan for sawdust collection? I’m going to be getting started on my basement work area after the holidays and that’s one of the things on my mind. I was thinking about making something that I can hook my shopvac up to.

Probably just an adaptor to the shop vac if anything. Most of the time i use these tool in short bursts building something then they sit dormant for a while. So vaccing up the dust st the end of a use is not a big deal.

You can also hang a box fan above where you’re working, and put a furnace filter on the “in” side of the fan, if that makes sense. It helps keep the dust down that would otherwise coat everything in the area. I use my woodworking stuff at about the same pace, it sounds like.
