Kinja'd!!!

Nothing has been heard about it since its debut a few months ago. And its all but disappeared from the Genesis site. It was under future vehicles for a little bit, allowing me to sign up for updates. Then it just disappeared. Hopefully more info comes out about it during the NAIAS next month.

I hope so. Far better looking than the Stinger.

Weird. There’s still a page on the Canadian website, but nothing on the American one.

I still never saw a picture of the manual shifter in the 2.0T

Yea exactly. Because I even went on the US site and filled out the little form to receive more info when it becomes available. Now everything about the car is gone like it doesnt exist. The only place you find stuff on it is from all the auo publications when it debuted.

Maybe with the debut of the Stinger, Hyundai/Kia decided that we cant have too much fun and is deciding against giving us too many performance options here in the US?

There isnt one. I looked. And all the cars the press got to sample were the autos.

Well, they didn’t even get the 2.0T, right?

Thats the thing. I dont know. I hated the reporting on the G70 by most publications. Everyone made it seem like they drove it, but at the same time they just gave info about the car without saying whether they drove it or not and if they did what models they drove.

This. The only video I found is a Australian journo who drove a real one in South Korea. And it was a 3.3T

Makes it seem like Hyundai made journalist be hush about it or they controlled what info they could release.

The side blade is killing me and I’m still waiting for the superman grille trend to die, but the front aero is cool!

It’s supposed to be for 2019 model year. I wouldn’t put much stock in whether or not it’s on the future vehicles section of the Genesis site, future vehicles sections are often pretty worthless.

This is true. But for it to be up and disappear is weird. The Stinger was in Kia’s future vehicle section for most of the year last year and it never went away.

It should be at NAIAS since Canada will likely be selling it this Spring. There is a huge issue with Genesis only wanting to sell the G70 through dedicated Genesis stores to block the car from being sold directly next to Hyundais.

Every Hyundai dealership was allowed to sell a $60,000 G80 but now around 75% of those same dealers are being told they cant sell a $35,000 G70. On top of that, nor will they receive much in the way of compensation for any services or renovations they have done to sell these upmarket Hyundais over the last decade.

Until this is settled, there really isnt a network for the G70 to be sold in the US.

I did not know that. It makes no sense though with them wanting to do that, especially since they haven’t really taken the time to create any stand alone dealers. Damn near all of them are with Hyundai stores. They are creating of storm of their own making.

I sure hope so, and not to be too Jalopnik commentariat about the situation, but I’d consider one in the future off lease. I think they look great and manual 2.0ts should depreciate nicely.

Any of the Genesis cars I would consider in a few years. Its less commentariat and more smart buyer.

I’m sure there will be an official event next year like we saw last month with the Stinger in California, where EVERY youtube reviewer was. My feeling is that the G70 is not ready yet
