I can relate to this post:

Your tree is much more impressive than ours.

I can’t understand why people get them so late. There’s a week left and you’re just getting one?!

Super busy. We wanted to get it earlier trust me. Life gets in the way sometimes but I am happy and my wife is happy so that’s all that matters to me.

It’s at or above 10 ft. Our house has a unique floor plan that allows for a big ass tree. We could get a 15ft if we wanted. We also have an absurdly large double door on the deck that would allow for said big ass tree. Also nice Subaru. I likes.

We have a weird living room that has a sloped roof and could accommodate about a 12 ft. tree but I’m too lazy to fight anything above 7 into the house. I got the Ouback’s good side :) We have a huge dent in the right front fender from a hit and run. I was going to get it repaired as a Xmas gift for my wife, but she picked up a nail, drove on it, ruined the tire and AWD life being what it is we were at 7/32" so needed 4 new tires despite having a lot of life left in them. The quotes we’ve gotten to install a new fender and paint match are about $800 and our deductible is $500 so I want to pay out of pocket, but it’s a kind of low priority for when I don’t need that cash for something else.

Oh no! that’s awful. That is one thing that scares me about AWD life. I really need to put money away for tires.

We got ours a little late in the hopes of it not dropping all of its needles before New Year’s - we’ll see...

Yeah it’s kind of a crapshoot - it hits some people and not others. If you’re almost worn out it’s no big deal but if you’re just under the limit it sucks. One thing I’ve done is keep the good tires for a full-size spare and possibly to rotate on if I get another unfixable blow with half-worn tires down the line. But if you do get a low tire light in the Outback pull over ASAP. If it’s a patchable hole you’re gonna want to repair it, but if you drive home on your sidewalk that option goes away.

FYI TireRack does sell shaved tires, but that’s really just a band-aid.

I think you’re supposed to water them. I had a live one for a handful of years, but I usually end up with an artificial one for practical reasons...
