That sounds like a challenge to me...

How about a VL Commodore?

You can probably find a few here, but just like old japanese cars, it will be rotting in a field... Saw a couple Maloo and stuff like that though...

Yeah would’ve thought so. The registration laws over there are pretty tough on older cars and their virtues. And when they don’t have many...crunch/shred/rust

That’s an urban legend ;)

Emission laws are much more lenient here for older vehicle than for newer ones and registration only costs an extra 10% over newer cars... It’s just that japanese don’t like “old” stuff... A car is something you get to show your status and it has to be new and clean. Go figure.

My daily driver is 33 year old turbo rotary and I’ll change it for a 30 year old Italian headache generator in a bit.

However some of the most dedicated enthusiasts I’ve ever seen are there. You get the Japanese fixated on something and near perfection happens. I had an old concert t shirt I love and my mother in law couldn’t believe I was wearing an old shirt. It’s strange because there are so many people there that practically dedicate their lives to preserving old things. I decided long ago to stop asking why in Japan.

Oh I think the Yakuza love a black S class. At least I’m pretty sure that’s who i was seeing.

Not just a Mercedes, a LHD Mercedes.

That said, having a LHD European luxury car used to be (still now? IDK) considered a status symbol - you had a fancy import and didn’t concern yourself with trivial matters such as having the steering wheel on the usual side.

When I was in Japan this summer I saw lots of out of place cars..

Lincoln Navigators, G-wagons and a Lancia Delta like yours.

Check it out if you haven’t seen it .

Really nice! I hadn’t seen this photodump! The Delta is not mine officially yet, but soon, soon :)
