Kinja'd!!!

Just happened. Not sure what let go but it’s coolant. Hoping for water pump gasket. Worried it might be timing cover gasket.

Kinja'd!!!

Yay!

Last time my car leaked it was coolant from the radiator and it made this really nasty puddle, but the worst part is that the jeep has underbody protecting plates so we couldn’t see the magnitude of the issue until we moved it and a bunch of coolant just bounced off unto my driveway.

we replaced the radiator because it had cracked, it looked as if someone had stabbed it!

The entire cooling system is new so this is a mystery.

what colour is the liquid?

I’m not good at diagnostics tho.. take everything I say with a huge grain of salt!

It’s coolant. I know the taste of Toyota red.

Check the thermostat gasket. It would usually be the least painful thing to get to.

It doesn’t look like it but I’ll have my shop look. They replaced the gasket this fall so it should be covered if it is

oh damn... well I hope it gets fixed.

If you can’t find the origin, take it to a shop, I don’t think the leak is big enough to warrant a flatbed!

I really want to add the following to the ‘mud thread:

Mk hi u need jeep jk its the best they r much better than yotas coz they suck

but I feel the humor might be lost and I’d be stoned to death. Better not.

Turns out it was the radiator, btw. It was a Toyota/Denso replacement but its leaking like a sieve. Strange.

Hey! That’s not too bad! At least, a lot better than it could have been. What are you replacing it with?

12/19/2017 at 11:30, STARS: 0

KOYO. I would say “denso all the way” but...might as well save some money.

Nothing wrong with a Koyo. I thought the OE manufacturer was either Koyorad or TRad, I don’t recall. I’m sure its somewhere all over mud.

Denso is the OE unit. Koyo should be good enough. Im going to start looking for its replacement. its just getting too old to make me feel good about touring in it.

Entirely understandable. I’d be questioning its dependability especially after all it’s put you through. Thinking a 200?

I’d like a 200, will probably end up with a low mile 100. If my wife gets her way I will get her gx and she will get ??? I don’t think I want the GX though.

12/19/2017 at 12:11, STARS: 0

Hundo would be quite cush, I’d probably opt for a low-mile 80 series replacement if I were you as I’m very partial to the 80. If 100, I’d go 05+ and be sure to carry a spare CV with you!

Im also considering finding another 80. finding the right one is a pain though.

I searched for ours for over a year. Ended up buying one from Colorado when we lived in NY. Drove it cross country twice. Did more PM and baselining than I’d care to admit, but it’s been insanely solid and dependable because of it. I’m happy to kick tires on anything that piques your interest in CO.
