And its not the weather.

Shockingly its actually nicer here than where I lived before this.

Its this shit. Why the fuck does the sunset so early. This is legit like an hour earlier than I’m used too...

How do you people live like this?

It’s because it’s so close to the time zone line, or at least that’s what I was told when I lived there.

That late and you’re complaining? It’s at 3:59 here. And it sucks. Then again it’s light past 9:00pm in the summer which is nice.

Exactly, and I moved from somewhere on the far west end of a time zone. Today the city I moved from had a sun set time of nearly an hour later.

Also further away from equator & winter time means less daylight.

Imagine Alaskan winters of 3-4 months darkness.

Yeah, I’m central and an hour drive from EST (and central is really really wide). It does suck. I have a really hard time working or driving after 4pm.

I worked with people in TX on the same time zone and they had no idea what I was complaining about.

But sunrise at 5am isn’t too bad...helps you wake up.

The far north has a whole different beast to deal with.

Yup, if you go far enough you’ll need a calendar instead of a clock to show the next sunrise. But on the other hand sunlight for days in the summer.

I still remember my Dad telling me a story about when he was on business trip when he was in (some Nordic country, I think Sweden) back in the 80's.

He woke up and saw the sun up and panic’d assuming he had missed his alarm. He rushed, got ready, and once he was done, realized that it was like 4:30am still or something ridiculous like that.

He had no clue that something like that was possible at the time.

There is legit no snow on the ground here haha

I was cold and windy last week, but other than that no issues. Legit the highs are in the 40's all week haha

I’m in Madison a bit north of you. Yes, it’s annoying. The key is during the course of your day, find as many opportunities as you can to see sunlight. If you work somewhere without readily available windows, get one of those daylight lamps.

It does, but our last two winters were very mild, and it’s unseasonably warm right now. I think it was four years ago that we got over 100" of snow. Last year we got virtually no snow after the middle of December.

It’s because we’re on the Eastern edge of the time zone here, but yeah it does suck. What part of the city did you end up moving too?

Super northwest lakeview. As in, more like across the street I’m in Ravenswood, and a few blocks west I’m in north center.

I cant complain too much though, I roughly halfway between the office and ORD and I’m like two blocks from an L stop. Even better, the place came with three parking spots included with rent.

“How do you people live like this?”

Unfathomable amounts of alcohol. Seriously, go to Kenosha...there practically four bars and 1 church on every intersection.

For real though, I live within “blocks” of the living park brown line stop.

I am close enough that I can recognize the Irving/Lincoln/Damon intersection at the bottom right now that map.
