I absolutely love these first-gen RX7. Would you mind sharing your ownership experience? Are they reliable? Are parts available? These seem like really underappreciated classics judging by how cheap they sell for.

I got it this past mid/late June and immediately spent as much on parts as I bought the car for to get it to my standards (including all the routine maintenance stuff and a $1100 exhaust system). I have had no issues since, and it was my daily driver for most of the summer. It’s been pretty reliable; it’s got 180k miles on the odometer so the engine has either been very well maintained, or rebuilt at some point (the previous owner wasn’t sure, nor have I found any evidence either way). It runs very well, starts strong hot and cold, and pulls hard all the way to redline, which includes a buzzer since it’s so smooth you don’t really notice that you’re already at 7 grand.

Parts availability is really hit-or-miss. There is an astounding selection of parts available brand new from Mazda, and a seemingly random sample that are NLA. There isn’t much aftermarket, but the forum is pretty active including classifieds so it’s not impossible to find parts. Depending what you’re looking for, you’ll find it... eventually.
