All Opel/Vauxhalls sold in the U.K. are badged Vauxhall just as Opel/Vauxhalls are badged Opel outside the U.K. whether they were built in the U.K. or on the continent.

I realized it was most, just not ALL. Most of the names are universal. But not all.

The Vauxhall badge is only used in the U.K. and on all dealer bought cars, you can buy a car on the continent and spec it for RHD which will be badged an Opel.
Generally the model name is kept the same.
The Adam was named after one of the founder of Opel’s sons and sold as the Adam in the U.K. and elsewhere. The Opel Karl was named after another of the sons but this time the Karl name too was rebadged as the Viva.
I can understand why Vauxhall didn’t want another car named after another of Opel’s sons when both Vauxhall and Opel started out as different companies.

That’s just sad. I understand the goals of the Karl/Viva. It’s a no frills very cheap vehicle. The Rocks version is like a homely middle aged bookkeeper (m/f) getting a big turbo=alternator tattoo in the neck to appear cool among millennials. Result: a parody of itself, a laughing stock..

It’s not really catching on though. As you might’ve seen already the silver car is a previous gen Opel Astra, a car you know as a sedan as the Buick Verano. It was introduced in 2009 or so.

Yeah, I get that Vauxhalls and Opels have shared the same model names for a long time now, but this one would have made sense to totally rebadge - could have just called it the Alex. I mean, they used different names on the VX220/Speedster with less justification.

I’ve never been a fan of those plastic clad vehicles, but imho the Rover 25 had some style. The Carl/Viva does not, but being so very cheap that’s acceptable. With the plastic cladding though, it’s even worse. Hard to explain really.

Still think they should make a Canadian spec version of the Viva and call it the Epic. Hell, since Vauxhall/Opel are owned by PSA now they could start importing future non-GM based Vauxhalls as Envoys. I’m pretty sure GM owns the Envoy name though, but who knows.

Probably. To be honest though, it’s an option that’s hard to spot so I cannot tell you how many people check that box. However, as far as I know Opel/Vauxhall is still the only one offering it.
Many people have a tow hook on their car for a bicycle carrier (in the Netherlands). Yes, including on the lowest powered smallest cars. I once owned a Peugeot 205 CTI (subcompact convertible from 1988) with a tow hook.
