Have not seen it yet, but wonder why Rian didn’t get a crack at directing IX. It’s billed as that good.

I have some problems with it. I enjoyed parts of it but there are issues. I was a kid with the originals mind you so it’s from that perspective.

They’d probably show up when I watch it again, but I was just gobsmacked on first watch. That was daredevil shit on the part of the director.
See, the thing is, Kimi no na wa (that anime movie everyone seemed to like) is still king to me. Where the anime is scintillating, Ep8 is stunning. Both, however, are worth the money, and among the best new movies I’ve watched this year.
Also, now I really, REALLY , REEAAALY want a SoulCalibur game whose roster is entirely Star Wars characters after that film. Call it StarCalibur.

Kimi no na wawa is pretty good, but it’s not my favorite anime. It would be hard to pick a fav. I really enjoy Last Exile as a series, hard to beat some Miyazaki. Up On Poppy Hill turned out great, my wife and I have watched it a few times. The Ghibli museum in Mitaka is fun, they are building a bigger place in Osaka I heard. I would probably have never seen so much anime if I hadn’t lived there or married a Japanese person!

Meh. I was rather miffed that it was both a riff of Empire, but also Jedi. I was especially irritated as Rey and Ben were on the way to Snoke. I felt as if I was watching Jedi.
And Snoke is dead? Who is he?? Come on Disney!

It should be out on VHS by 2019. George Lucas is going to release without CGI so it’s basically three people spazzing out in a big green room.
