Get out of work, warm up car, start to clean off. Go to open it back yup to head home, and it locked. Good thing for CAA. Now to wait.

Wait, your car will lock with the motor running?

It’s a real pity no one copied Ford:

Oh man that sucks. I will roll down a window if I’m leaving my car running, never know what kind of crap it’s going to pull.

I do the same. I locked my keys with the car running in my 85 CRX when I was a youngster. After that, I’ve always rolled down the window if I’ve left a vehicle running,

Does ford even do that anymore? Because I don’t think I’ve seen that on the newer ones, although maybe it’s just more discrete.

That’s assuming the windows are not frozen shut.

My Infiniti would lock automatically 2 minutes after unlocking with remote. Presumably to avoid leaving car unlocked if you accidentally hit the unlock button instead of lock. And it didnt matter if keys were in the ignition.

Check your manual to see how yours is setup.

They’ve done it recently though I can’t find it as an option in the configuration page. The 2018 Edge page does have a video about using it?

The b-pillar one is discreet though, it doesn’t light up unless you get close to it.

That bites! Just yesterday I had 3 copies made of the key to the van I bought a couple weeks ago. 1 plain key gets taped to the front driver’s side strut of every vehicle I own or maintain. Even vehicles that use chipped keys can use a plain(cheap) key for entry. I bet I taped 8-10 keys on my daughter’s car in the 5 years she went to university 3&1/2 hours away!

User notes: 1) I use black duck tape so it’s not glaringly obvious 2) I put the key in a cigarette cellophane first: after a few hot weeks the adhesive gets really gummy on the key and can mess up your door lock 3) for an offspring’s or spouse’s car, tape one on >both< front struts cause shore ‘nuff, they’ll lock the keys inside again before they replace the key from last time!

This times infinity. I have it on my 92 Grand marquis and I love it. Both for warming up in winter, and for the occasional oopsie where I lock the keys in the car and it saves my behind.
