The local Honda dealer is advertising that their cars “are competetive with cars costing $30-40k more”. Nope. Nuh-uh. Hondas are good cars and always a great value but on par with the likes of BMW and Jaguar they are not.

I think it depends on your definition of competitive. Will a Honda drive like a BMW or Jag or any other of a myriad assortment of high priced cars? No. Will it transport you and your stuff in relative comfort with some nice options and in a decently sized cabin? Most certainly. It also won’t cost you an arm and a leg to service nor will it require the sheer amount of maintenance those require.
Much like a few other car brands, they are great appliances and some do have sporting pretensions on a few models but overall they are amazingly efficient appliances. If you look at cars purely as transportation ( an abominable point of view to me) then yeah I guess they are competitive. Do they hold passion or pure driving thrill? Probably not.

Add $30k to that and you’re now comparing your Type-R to an M3. If you factor in the markup some dealers are charging on the CTR, this dealer is saying that a fast Civic is essentially the same as an M5.
