One of my employees (My receptionist) gave her notice today.She is a great employee and a wonderful person and I don’t want to lose her.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

But she has been accepted to nursing school. She is young, and this will be a great future. So I am happy for her, but sad that she is moving on. She cried and told me she never had a boss like me and she loves her job. I told her she was doing the right thing for her future.

I’d be lying if I said wasn’t a bit choked up myself. I am going to miss her. This is the first employee I have lost that I wanted to keep, and I am sad.

I’ll be really interested to see if I get a similarly emotional response from my bosses on Monday when I tell them I’m moving on after nearly 13 years there...rather doubt it. It’ll be emotional but not for the same reasons!!!

Just a shot in the dark but maybe see if she can help you find a replacement? Tell her she will be compensated for helping and that you trust her enough that you’d like her to help. I know if I had a boss tell me that if think pretty swell of myself.

Damn. I wish I could have quit my jobs while I was in school. I’m in the process of getting my RN. If you were in AZ I’d apply for her job.

I know that feel. My entry level designer decided to move to another city for some decent reasons. While I’m glad that she will be transferring to another office of my firm and the training I’ve given her won’t go to waste, I’m now in interview mode again far sooner than expected.
