Thought it would behoove me to keep you in the loop vis-a-vis my wife. Despite constant pain and a surgery on Wednesday she graduated this morning with her BA in Accounting.

That surgery, like all other things we’ve went through over the past 7 years, did not find any explanation to the constant pain. On our doctor’s recommendation she is being admitted to the University of Colorado Research Hospital. We pushed the admittance to Monday so she can enjoy her graduation - she has enough pain pills to get her through till then - in hopes that a team dedicated to her situation may prove more fruitful than going from specialist to specialist.

I’m incredibly proud of her for all she’s accomplished despite her health. I just want to see her healthy again; she deserves it. For the first time since gof knows when I’m hopeful. Hopeful this team will see, from the big picture, something the specialists have missed. I’m hopeful that she recovers from whatever this is and can again live a full life.

Yeah it’s off topic but I ain’t care. I love y’all like family, for one reason or another, and choose to tell you this because of it.

Glad to hear she’s graduating, the rest... Doesn’t sound as good. Does this mean that the lack of sodium wasn’t the issue?

The sodium was a player in her overall health but, by clearing that, other issues came to the forefront. She has been in constant debilitating pain, radiating from her abdomen, for going on 6 straight weeks. Two Percocets every 6 hours only do so much too

I don’t really consider myself part of the oppo family but I do enjoy this part of the internets.

And also I’m not a doctor but there’s rather a lot of them in my closer enviroment so I’m interestet quite a bit in medical problems and it’s always nice to have some topic to ask about. So is there a post about your wife that goes more into detail about your wife?

Might find out something interesting or at least I might get some nice conversation out of it.

Hey there. I’ve kept it pretty quiet, save for some tidbits (there’s a sodium post you can find on my profile) and things shared amongst close friends.

Long story short she’s been in poor health for 7, going on 8, years. We’ve resolved some of the problems but it has only allowed some of the worst things to surface. I wish I could say more but we still have no gof damn clue what is wrong with her

That was a long time coming too :) she jumped from major to major before landing in accounting and she took to it like second nature. I’ve never seen her so pleased in her work.

Surgery fucking sucks. I have to get a CT scan the day after Christmas to find out if I need surgery or not. Dreading that shit. Hope they can figure out what’s wrong with your wife.

(and for the sake of mentioning it even tho its most likely wrong... me dad had a form of polyneuropathy that gave him constant pain even tho nothing should be hurting.... its a fucking wierd dissease)

Yeah that’s the thing. She’s seen enough specialists and has been checked for so many probable things that they are looking now at the improbable. Things like porphyria. Nothing is off the table any more which is why she’s going to what has been described as ‘the Dr. House of Colorado’

I’ve read the sodium post but it’s not too useful without knowing how much sodium is in her diet exactly. Less than other people can still be a lot. Or way to little.

I know specialists for almost anything. Mostly through parents of my friends or through my military career.

So if you want to share a couple of details you could send them to me and I could share them around. Just for a some inputs to your new team. Might help.. probably won’t. But I’d feel bad not offering the help..

I appreciate it. Working in healthcare and always being scared of HIPAA is one bit, the other is we don’t have much to share. CAT scans all negative. MRIs, nothing. X-rays the same. Laparoscopy found zero issues with her repro system. Pain is abdomen, lower left. Debilitating and radiating to the point that she cannot function without painkillers.

That’s all we got at this point

Dude, that is fantastic news! Chronic pain is no joke. My wife is going in for surgery next month for similar issues. Believe me when I say we understand. This is a big accomplishment!
