It’s why a lot or ours have these.

Kinja'd!!!

Put a pound coin in the slot, as you push it in it releases the chain from the trolley, once you’ve finished with it, push the chain end into the receiver again and your pound coin it returned.

There’s a Midwest(?) chain called Aldi that also uses... chains to keep carts from wandering off because even lazy people like to keep their quarters

As somebody who does this for money, yes. They are that lazy. It’s almost bizzare. I will watch people push a cart across the lot and leave it in front of the entrance instead of pushing the extra 10 feet (they already pushed it over 100) to put it where it belongs. Instead, I have to go make a special trip for it.

boggles the mind.

You must be new here to Planet Earth. I’d recommend going back to your home planet. The humans are a lost cause.

Can confirm that those extra 5 feet will literally kill people. I worked PT as a cashier for Target some years ago and was assigned cart duty.

I hate people. Individuals I can tolerate on a case-by-case basis. But people, the unwashed masses, yeah fuck them all. Assholes, the lot of them.

We get the German chain Aldi here in the U.K. too.

You guys gets both Aldi Nord (Trader Joes) and Aldi Sud (Aldi).

Here we get Aldi Sud (Aldi).

Trolleys cost companies and absolute fortune so if they get lost, damaged or stolen it can be a great expense, also if you return the trolley because you have to, it saves on costs as you no longer need to pay someone to retrieve them from all around the car park.

I worked PT at Target a few years back too! I worked as a cashier and in hardlines. I was happy I never had to do cart duty, that job always looked like it sucked.

When it was nice out, it was a welcome break from angry, entitled housewives and their screaming hell-spawn. It’s also great exercise when the cart-pushing robot was broken (which happened a lot).

When it was cold, wet, snowing, or super hot. Yeah...those days sucked.

Oh, now you’ve triggered me. Do you know how many times I have these damned things sitting in the handicap spots when I come to park? I always return my cart. If I, a frickin’ paraplegic, can do it, you sure as heck can!

@#$!&*!

Okay, now back to my cheerful holiday mood.

Our Aldi stores down here don’t use those that I can see. But then I don’t shop much at Aldi. Good on them if they do.

You don’t understand. That half-smoked joint in the car isn’t going to smoke itself.

I feel like every time I go to target now I end up near someone who smells like they have a growing operation somewhere in their clothing.

I’ve been meaning to ask, you’ve mentioned something about your chair before and now you mentioned you’re a paraplegic; however, you’ve never mentioned anything about hand controls and if I remember your RX-8 was a stick so I always assumed that you had some use of your legs. Is that accurate?

I mean don’t mean it as a slight, I was just genuinely curious.

That’s interesting, my mom made a mention of having to give them a quarter to get a cart, maybe things are different in GA vs TX. I’ve never visited one in either state, so I can’t confirm one way or another.

Don’t worry, you can always ask anything you want.

I had the 4-speed auto. I did post a couple of times with pics about my controls to the FP, I think, to help out someone. It’s just spring loaded levers bolted to the steering column and attached to the pedals. Unfortunately, I can’t do a stick. This is proving to be a slight impediment in my quest to find and deliver a 5-speed Integra for my sister.

Wait, those were only a 4-speed? That’s surprising; I always assumed that most modern autos were at least 5 speeds. Unless it’s a Jeep, cause apparently 3 speeds are a Jeep thing and I wouldn’t understand.

Since you can’t do a stick, the good news is that DCT M3s are cheaper. So I’ll just have to start posting those for you. Seriously, look how cheap this is.

I don’t think I ever saw any pictures of the hand controls. I always though there would be a steep learning curve and my brain would be like nope, too many things to do with hands. Although, it’s probably like learning stick, or probably even driving in general, it’s difficult at first but with enough practice it’s second nature.

I’m guessing it’s about 20 feet pushing an average of 3 pounds, so 60 lb-ft of work.

As for the hardness, I don’t know how to apply hardness tests to fuckong especially if I have tp figure it put in such a public setting. Performance anxiety

I’ll stop the bad jokes and leave now.

I’ll admit that I take carts from the parking space where I park (because I don’t trust someone not to hit my car with it if I leave it there), and leave them haphazardly by the store entrance. This is obviously not the nicest thing I could do, but it doesn’t seem like it should create more work (it’s a random cart either way), and I don’t feel like enabling the store’s crappy cart cleanup by doing their job for them. They desperately need more cart returns (whole parking aisles don’t have any), though even that might not be enough, carts are just strewn all over the lot.

The 04 was 4 speed. Them they moved to the 6 the next year. In practice you like to rev the rotary anyway, so I never felt too slighted.

I left my car with a friend for a week, and he ended up using the hand controls half the time. You pick it up in 5 minutes. And you can always use the pedals like normal. I’ll post a pic later.

If you post M3s to me, make it interesting and give me colors or cool interior combos. Black on gray or white on black etc BMWs put me to sleep. I did really enjoy the Z4 M vert I drove. Made me smile.

Here it’s not necessarily company dependent but store and location dependent, as in some Aldis do, some don’t, some Tescos do while some don’t, etc... it all depends on how many go missing or stolen for what ever reason.
