Kinja'd!!!

And I see a few of these monstrosities in the NY area. They always have low miles too. (imagine that!) It’s like some bozo bought the thing to go bar hopping because he thought it looked cool, then he actually rode it and realized what a shit bike it was.. Doh!

Suspension is for posers.

I never have understood bikes like that. It can’t be comfortable, or drive well and I personally think they look terrible.

That bike is a work of art, and not really a vehicle if I’m honest.

I thought the same thing when I visited an Indian dealer a couple days ago, and looked at the new Scout Bobber.

Super low, just one instrument (speedometer), knobby tires but no ground clearance, no windshield, no cargo carrying capacity. Is it a vehicle? Incidentally, yes. But it’s more of a $12,000 fashion statement than practical transportation.

That could be said for 90% of motorcycles.

Count me out then, that one has rear suspension. :)

I think we can 100% blame that one on OCC. That one came out of the Strokers Dallas shop, which is what I remember being the second chopper show on TV.

At least that looks fun to ride, and has suspension.

A lot of these custom choppers don’t go for much money (probably because that fad is over thank god), I kinda want to buy one some day just for the hell of it.

I sat on a Scout Bobber the other day and if I could afford to have a fifth bike I would ride that every day I possibly could.

seriously though i really want one of these. the indian dealer near my in laws has a bunch and if i were in the market id be on my way to buy one tomorrow. they have all sorts of winter deals going on right now. also i think you can still fit saddle bags to the bobber but why would you want to screw with a thing of beauty

Some people don’t realize that you really have to sacrifice comfort and/or performance to have something that looks that extreme.

If all they wanted was convenience and comfort, they should stick to a Rav 4 instead.

The sale of all these awful choppers is kind of interesting. The owners seem to have accepted they won’t ride them but cannot accept they aren’t worth shit. Almost all of them have only a few thousand miles and are typically listed for north of $30,000. The ONLY thing of value on these bikes is the engine and trans.

It’s got nothing to do with whether I like it or not. Paying an obscene amt of money for a bike that rides like shit, then selling it with super low miles because you discovered *after* you bought it that it rides like shit. I see a lot of these custom choppers and most have very low miles for just this reason.

Yeah— that rainbow bike pictured is a “Big Dog” chopper... People were buying them for around $35K back during the chopper craze— now you see them littering craigslist and ebay for $6-10K (all with low miles)..... idiots.

or maybe its low mileage because they have multiple bikes, or they don’t have the time to ride it. or the whole joy of the bike for them is to look at it and ride it occasionally.
Maybe they’re selling it cause they want a different chopper now? or their financial situation has changed and they need to sell it.

All are plausible reasons, but when I see so many of these for sale with low miles you have to wonder.
