The principal observed me yesterday and in our meeting today, she said my lesson was dope . O.C. is pleased.
In truth, the students were dope. When the caring is mutual, the kids will work.

I’m not in a good place at school right now. One of my six classes is the worst behaved group I’ve had in a very long time. I’ve gone home in a terrible mood the last three nights in a row. I’ve had to pull 35% of the class out of the shop, and another kid is on thin ice. Today I sat there with a stack of minors and a stack of majors, and I just started writing every time one of them acted up. I usually right 2-3 office referrals a year. I wrote four minors and a major in the span of 15 minutes. I’m in write ‘em all up, and let the AP sort them out mode. Six more days with this bunch.

We have a brand new principal as well. She actually sat with me and we did the evaluation like it’s supposed to be done.
It would be difficult to run a safe shop when you have a band of knuckleheads to keep track of. The AP needs to get one or two of their schedules changed. Can you get a cart of Chromebooks and let them surf in the classroom part of the shop or give them a “research project” that requires them to use their phones?

It’s great when the process works like it’s supposed to. You can actually have productive meetings and improve. We can always improve.
Schedule changes won’t be happening. I’m done with them in six more days, and onto my next groups after winter break. My class runs on 6-week rotations. They’re all parked in my CAD lab doing extra drawings until then.

Yes, she was very happy with what she saw. She is our brand new principal, and I like her anyway. I have never experienced honest educational leadership in my job before this.
