Kinja'd!!!

Renault made a road going version of the Symbioz concept car they presented in Frankfurt. The Symbioz 2 is clearly closer to reality than the concept was. On the one hand it has Level 4 automation, which is nice for commuting. But what intrigues me most is it’s 670hp twin motor electric drivetrain on the rear axle, and it’s 500 km ish range. (Which is probably more a prediction for the future as it’s a high estimate for a 72kWh pack in using current technology) I’ll save my geeking for another time, and I might just do a few calculations to check their claims. (EVs are my thing after all)

Also, looks like the Avantime/Velsatis but is coming back:

The faux floating C-pillar upkick in the rear quarter is almost like a tailfin moved too far forward. Move it back a bit and it would be cool.

Honestly, I don’t see why the French keep trying with the land barge concepts. Sure, everyone likes (or is at least intrigued by) cars like the C6 and the Avantime, but nobody* buys them. Halve the power output and put it in a future Mégane RS concept, and then we’ll talk.

Edit: *China, perhaps?

I wonder if its current position helps reduce eddies in the airflow at the rear.

It might be. I just noticed in the lower pic, there’s a central dorsal fin, too. Maybe they are playing around with this, even if the impact may be modest to insignificant.

Yeah, it’s not really a thing anybody outside of France (or maybe China, though that seems more true for Citroën then for Renault) would buy.

I think they might be trying to jump on the Tesla/Lucid:Faraday Future boat, fast, large, semi-autonomous cruisers. Or they are just showing what they can do, without any intent of production, that’s also a possibility.

Your username is rather fitting, given the conversation. :p

The car bearing that name has a decent pair of fins:

MB actually advertised these as parking aids, rather than admit they gave into a fad in 1959.
