The gear selector illumination “ribbon” behind the glowing PRND321 on my center console is torn up. The going rate for a new one is $130 so I’m wondering if Oppo has any ideas on how to replicate one or maybe get something out of the junkyard.
The film connects in a loop and fits over the gear selector under the letters. The film is green but has black screen printing on the part where light doesn’t shine through.
I was thinking I could just tape some green film behind the letters and do away with the indicator function, but that still leaves the gap open where the lever moves.

I would try the thickest clear plastic film I can find. Please forgive my ignorance, but what’s the leather boot up front that looks like it’d fit over a manual shift lever? (I know it can’t be because automatic, but otherwise I’m lost.)

Lighting gel, Lee gel is thicker than Rosco and should last a bit longer.

I would just find a used one. They’re probably not that expensive. Maybe check with some independent rover shops to see if they have any laying around.
