American Accords killed the Prelude, so they were hit with the Prelude Curse. TSXs evolved from the Prelude but shed the curse.

Also, I think David paid even less for his Accord than you did, and in a state that isn’t friendly to rust-prone cars.

I figure that he needs content anyway. Not gonna get too much traffic if he posts: “My 1993 Corolla wagon has been just fine.”

David’s Accord was from NJ I think (not great but not as bad as Michigan). He also bought it from a trusted co-worker so he knew it would be in excellent shape.

I love David Tracy, but I don’t think we’re in any danger of him running out of junk to write about :)

“You can buy this Accord for the price of a carton of Marlboro Lights!”

This is true, doesn’t he have like 3 running jeeps at this point?

I had a 94, never had an issue.

Agreed, but an unreliable-reliable DD is icing on the cake.

I met him about six months ago, and tried to convince him to fix the J10 instead of taking on another project. Obviously, I was unsuccessful at that.

Going down the list:

1985 Jeep J10: Broken (transmission I think?)

1948 Willys CJ-2A: Broken (don’t remember what’s wrong here, maybe still a death wobble?)

1995 Jeep Cherokee: Broken (electrical gremlins, no tail lights or turn signals)

1992 Jeep Cherokee: Working (but he doesn’t want to drive it in salty winter conditions)

1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Extremely Broken (Not clear that there’s anything functional on this hulk)

2003 Kia Rio: Broken (Apparently runs, but has lots of front-end damage)

CD Accords have been known for minor issues here and there. Mainly being the Vtec models had too much power for their auto transmissions (I know an earth shattering 145hp). Other models were sporadically hit with that issue as well. But if you could find the rare manual, you were golden.

We had 2 1994 CD5s, one with Vtec and one with a manual. In total they had somewhere around 500k miles on them. Now 300k+ was on the manual as like i said that Vtec stump pulling trans thought it was too cool for us. Though I will say it was a trouble free car after that, up until some texting idiot forgot stop. I did have to replace the Clutch slave as David did on the manual. Yes it was a pain in the ass especially at 32F. Even so that didnt go out until 275k. We traded in the manual with ~320k to a dealer, which then was to our surprise told us he sold it a week later. He said he put a fender and freshened up a few suspension bits and sold it a few days later

I mean, a shit car is a shit car. Oh, it broke down on a cold wet night? YOU DIDN’T EVEN CHECK THE RADIO WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT, LET ALONE THE BALL JOINTS. He got what he paid for. He has no right to complain.

There is no curse. I’d buy a late-90s Accord if i had the fuck-you money to do so. I once had a ‘95 DX that left me with some closure issues, since it left my possession against my will (that’s the Honda tax, i guess you’d say), but aside from a single blown engine, it ran great.

(Yeah, the irony, i know, but head warping is a thing that happens.)
