Anyone care to chime in on 2010-2012 tauruses (tauri?). They aren’t the prettiest things in the world. but they are temptingly cheap on the list of craigs. Thinking about ditching my a4 for one

Don’t expect to gain much interior space... they are ridiculously cramped inside

thought about it, but too pricey, and I want out of the VAG auto club. My a4 has 160k on it and I think is on borrowed time

I think I’ve decided to ditch it. its got 160k on it and its starting to show its age, lots a rattles, and creaks. The final nail in its coffin is what I believe to be failing valve guides, gave it full throttle the other day and it looked like I had Q install the smoke screen package

I did give that some serious thought, but most around here (socal) have high miles and have not been treated well. At this point, I have my fun vehicle and just need something comfortable to drive to work on a daily basis

yeppers. The deisels are tempting, but I think I had my fill of the VAG auto experience lol. With that said, I did find a jetta wagon cheap...

We have them at my work now. I don’t like them.

The engine has plenty of power, but the transmission is ALWAYS upshifting. Putting the shifter in S alleviates this, but it can be a bit rambunctious then.

Decent gas mileage, but small fuel tank whose gauge needle does weird things.

Cramped interior, especially in the front seats, compared to how big it is outside. The doors are at least a foot thick, and the seats are closer to the center console than they are the door. It’s hard to get into the front seats without hitting your head.

The speedometer goes to something stupid like 180mph, so it’s hard to tell if you’re going 45 or 50 without looking at it closely. There’s no temp gauge; it’s buried in the gauge cluster info screen.

All aspects of the radio are garbage. Sound quality, phone pairing, radio browsing, and how the steering wheel controls work into all of it.

Oh, and apparently Ford determined the raked rear window didn’t hamper rear visibility enough, so they put the third brake light back there to take up 20% of the view.

Storage in the center console is not as ample as it appears. There’s a little slot in front of the shifter that’s perfect for a phone, but when I put my phone (Pixel XL) in it, the shifter blocks its removal once moved into Park. The little coin tray beside the shifter is good for nearly nothing. One of the cupholders is normal size, and the other one is bigger and deeper. Normal-size things (like a regular McDonald’s cup) are hard to retrieve from the big cupholder while driving. The cupholders are also just a touch too close together.

I like the backseat, though. Not really any complaints there.

Oh, and while I can pop my sunglasses into the holder in my wife’s Outback with one hand without looking, I couldn’t get them into the sunglasses holder in the Taurus.

Yeah, but Taurai are kinda wrong wheel drive.

Any interesting car in SoCal will be hogh mileage, public transport infrastructure in the us starts and ends in New York.

What’s your budget tho, lemme help?

The Taurus will probably be better than a Audi in terms of reliability, but after reading WJalopy’s post, that would scare me away too.

How much do you want to spend on your next car? What is your budget?

Well, I always liked the Volvo S60 R , but it should’ve been called SSS for Sporty Swedish Stoicism

If you dig Germanic stuff, but wished to emphasize on the “GER” part, have a straight six BMW with rear wheel drive!

If you rather have an import from across another ocean, you can certainly go for this or this . Shame I couldn’t find the 3.oR!

But I can’t help but fall in love with Sweds.

My dad has a somewhat recent Taurus, I’m not sure but I’m guessing it’s a 2013. The interior is not great and a little smaller than I would expect. It’s not bad looking but it’s also not super nice. My dads car doesn’t have a lot of miles but was pretty loud over bumps. The speed in it is decent. It’s not particularly exciting looking but also not bad Looking. My dad enjoys it.

For the money I’d rather have a manual focus; or maybe a Mazda 6.

My C30 has 130k on it and hasn’t missed a beat. I am 6'4 and 245 pounds and I don’t think it’s cramped. It’s a small car with two doors. Thinking it would be big would be weird. Or look at the S40 of the same generation. 6 speed and $600 or so for a tune and you will be smiling with four doors and a trunk.

I’ve always loved the looks of them. Ive found a couple around that look in decent shape. Ideally I’d like an r-design, but that might not happen

A buddy of mine has a ‘13 he bought new, that’s about to roll 100k miles. He’s a died in the wool Ford guy, but he doesn’t like it. It’s had a lot of little annoying problems, although it’s never left him stranded or taken a big bite out of his wallet.

The interior is ridiculously cramped. How does such a big car have such a small interior?

12/13/2017 at 19:24, STARS: 0

Cool!

You can probably get a good Camry or Accord for $7500, albeit a bit older and/or higher miles. The Corolla/Matrix/Vibe might also work for you.

You could probably get a good deal on a Kizashi, perhaps even one still under warranty (I think Suzuki was sold here until 2012, and their warranty is 7y/100k, which they are still honoring)

There’s also the Regal, German enough but not as expensive to upkeep as an Audi. Some were made in Germany, some in the US.

Mine is an R design. Really all it is is a different front clip and color matched molding. And I have the two color interior which I have never liked. Mine is lowered on Eibach springs with a bigger rear sway bar which helps the handling a ton. Bigger intercooler, bigger intake and bigger exhaust and with stage 3 tune and its a blast to drive.
