I forget where I read it (maybe it was one of the twatter feeds I follow) that all of these guys seem to be the type who could never get a girlfriend in high school, and once they wound up in a position of power they decided to use it to get what they thought women “owed” them.

I think part of the issue with sexual harassment is that, to the many men and women that have not perpetrated it or experienced it, it sounds outlandish and almost impossible to fathom. But what Salma Hayek describes probably did happen to her, and we need to teach ourselves into understanding that sexual harrasment isn’t the new normal, but an unspoken truth to millions.
Its also quite cultural. Many of my friends (both men and women) think that “robar un beso” which translates to “stealing a kiss” is adorable, but it isn’t: its harassment, and we need to start understanding that consent and prevention is sexier than unintended contact.
