I booted up the DC-10-50TI for the first time earlier this week. I also received my blue key mechanical keyboard last night.

Final steps are install Windoze then get a SSD for that sweet smooth FSX and Train Simulator action.

Maybe I might graduate my side business from rebuilding smartphones to building computers, that was fun!!!

I wish I had the time for gaming to justify a gaming rig

If you can track it down there is a neat piece of software for the classic MacOS called “Kaleidoscope” that lets you customize pretty much the entire UI - fonts, colors, buttons, etc. It is a bit of a resource hog, but I remember spending hours messing with it back in the day just to make the OS look cool.

Looks sweet! I’m in the processing of speccing out a Ryzen 1600/RX580 build to replace the box I built back in 2011 (it’s getting a little wheezy).

IIRC I’ve run it on a similar machine but it really needed more like 100 MHz and 32 MB to not make the system feel slower

Looking good! DIY computer builds are always so satisfying, from finding the right parts for your usage and budget to putting it all together. I’ve been doing my own since ~2004 and don’t think I’ll stop anytime soon. Here’s my latest gaming rig, built last year and lovingly dubbed “the clusterf*ck”. It works a lot better than it looks.

I’m gonna be that guy for a minute, please forgive me.

You did good on pretty much everything I see.... *except* the power supply. The part that feeds power to all the expensive bits and that you rely on to not overvolt anything and fry parts, and it appears to be a no-name bare steel special.

One of my friends just had a no-name PSU start belching out smoke in his computer last month. Luckily he was home when it happened, and it didn’t kill any of the rest of his rig when it went down.

Please replace it with a reputable power supply. If you don’t have the spare cash I have a spare Corsair CX600M I’d mail you to get you by until you could get something better.

Oh my! Shame on me for cheaping out on such a part. I have the money for a more expensive one...just of course I’m a somewhat serial cheapskate (as if my side skirt being held on by hidden zip ties weren’t enough of a clue). Thankfully my machines don’t run when I’m not around so no away from home fires. But still, thanks for the heads up! <3
