...so here’s my 11 year old battle-scarred Logitech G5.

Kinja'd!!!

Used to be my primary at home, had a defective mouse wheel, retired from duty and brought out of retirement at work because the mice at work is that bad. Magically the scroll wheel started working again perfectly.

I still use my G5 at home regularly. I love that thing. The cord wrap is a little frayed, but it still works just as well as the day I got it.

At work, I use a Razer Death Adder. I was perfectly happy using whatever stock Dell mouse or cheap Logitech we had sitting around, but one day I was clearing out a former employee’s office and discovered the Death Adder he left behind. That’s a pretty sweet mouse, too.

Wow... lucky. I swapped 3 of the POS HP mice they give out and I still couldn’t find one that works. Either it double-clicks or moves like jelly.

I moved to a G502 at home, but some days I still think maybe I should swap the G5 back.

Check out my sweet-ass gigantic Kensington trackball that’s 5 years old and has long since given up most of the gray paint on the primary left click button.

Still running my original G5 mouse/G15 keyboard combo from late 2006 as well! Keyboard display died a couple years ago, mouse has lost a fair amount of paint, but both still perfectly functional.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m still using the Kensington Expert Mouse Pro I bought back in 1999. I’ve added an 8-ball for more heft, modified the scroll wheel to get rid of the detents, and have replaced one bearing. I can’t see any reason to change...

I still have mine. With the “adjustable gaming weights,” correct?

I’ve never liked Logitech’s scroll wheels, but my shell is in better condition ;)

Yup.

I cleaned my wheel out a bit a few times, it still was skipping, that’s why it was decommed in the first place. But after a few months of rest it’s working perfectly fine again here.

How is the rubber holding up? I have a MX1000 of a similar age, and the rubber is getting all sticky and is starting to let go. Which is a shame, because it still is a really nice mouse, with ergonomics unlike anything I can find today :(

I just had to put my G500 to rest last week. Loved how it had the scroll wheel “unlock” but apparently the internal section of the wire is notorious for failing. New Razer mouse just isn’t the same.

The black parts look like rubber but they actually aren’t, just matte black hard plastic. With that being said, no stickiness.

I’m still rocking a VERY battle-scarred 13-year-old Logitech MX510 in blue and it still works perfectly!

I’m bored too and I keep thinking about how old I’m getting and how yucky my belly looks.

My wife’s preferred mouse. I can’t stand it. Not because it’s not a good mouse, but because it doesn’t work with how I do things. I’m addicted to my Apple trackpad. Funny how input devices are such personal things.

G500 is essentially a G5 with the hyper-scroll.

G5 is more like a Mx500? No?

I know the differences aren’t that big. Just slight changes to shape and buttons. I like the buttons to change the speed ond the g500. I can press them whenever I like without looking. And the scroll wheel is super usefull (to me) especially ond website like oppo .

MX500 -> MX518 -> G5 -> G5 V2 -> G500

Pretty much all the same castings really, though one can argue the line split off to the G400(s). The only new clean slate design is the G502.

Okay, I see. Now that I appear to be talking to an expert.

What sort of mousepad do you use?

And do you notice a big difference between the different lasers and stuff or is that just marketing?

Now that I appear to be talking to an expert.

Was that sarcasm? lol

I don’t have a mouse pad at work, they give me this gigantic desk mat instead. At home I have a 3M one.

I actually haven’t used an optical for quite some time but I do find it glides a bit smoother due to the higher resolution.

The one that REALLY made a difference was the Anywhere laser. You can use that on clear glass and it still tracks perfectly.

No that wasnt sarcasm . Most people don’t give a damn about their mouse.
