Under warranty, thank goodness! It’s the AA80E/Aisin TL-80SN 8-speed that got put into the Lexus LS460 and is still used today in the RS-F/GS-F/IS-F. What are the odds?
Of course GM got their dirty meat hooks on it which probably ruined it. “Upgrades to the transmission, which AW had been producing prior to the 2014 GM applications, include additional heat-treatments on gear sets and other internal components, and additional clutch plates” (articles.sae.org/11942).

So it wasn’t actually the diff at all? Then how did both the wheels lock? LSD? Rear-mounted transaxle with a built-in diff?

Yeah, the eLSD I guess. Pretty wild that it would go into full lockup on decel, but the car does work fine now. ¯\_()_/¯

TAC is the General Motors Technical Assistance Centre, only contactable by certain GM dealer staff.
i work at a GM dealer here in Australia. Holden have their own TAC staff as well.

Not necessarily. I’ve seen trucks that were in park sliding/rolling down a slippery hill with one tire rolling and the other tire sliding while spinning the wrong way.

Which do you prefer?
Being the only Subaru dealer in 200 miles makes our job fairly easy. It is hard to decided which is better between dealing with Subaru or GM. But let me tell you right now Hyundai is the fucking worst. Everything from their customers to their cars to their parts help lines etc.
