I just switched back from an iPhone to Android. When my wife sends me texts from her iPhone, they were going to my old phone. Consulting the internet, I turned iMessage off of my old phone. Now I don’t get any texts from her at all. Any thoughts OPPO?

Go back in time and stop yourself from buying an iPhone

I believe you have to unregister for imessage.

Edit: This should help.

It’s rough getting iMessage to stop intercepting inbound texts. I think even removing your iPhone from your Apple account won’t work, but give it a try anyway.

Also try having your wife delete the text thread and/or your contact, then re-add.

I had an iPhone SE for all of two weeks or so before I went back to Android for a little bit. It took a week before iPhone users were able to text me again.

If she’s using an iPhone too, her phone may still think it’s supposed to be iMessaging you: it’s easy to mix up sending to an Apple ID with sending to a phone number as these are interchangeable for iMessage. Get her to make sure she’s sending to your phone number

Already did that. It stopped them from going to my old phone. Now they just go into the ether.

She is. I tried it from her phone too, just to be sure.

Did you unregister the number online?

Also does it say delivered on your wife’s phone? If they’re not getting delivered, you should be able to send them as text messages. After that the iphone should try and send them as text messages.

The phone was fine. Never cared for iOS though.

Thanks for your help then :P

It seems I have to wait until my phone number works it’s way out of Apple’s servers.
