I’ve been dealing with the fact that I’ve been without power for 3 and a half days (finally back on), and have therefore had to drive the truck everywhere. It’s drinking coolant at the rate of a gallon per 200 miles. I really don’t want it to be bad head gaskets, but I then saw the white puffs of smoke (and no known history of injector issues).
Damnit.

Damn it, I assume it’s because of the snow. I want to say the longest my parents have been without power, since they moved to Roswell in 2002, is like an hour or two.

Head gasket is nothing. What your really don’t want is a cracked head or block.

Well, no. The fuse on the tap line to our neighborhood shorted and caught on fire Friday evening. The snow didn’t bring down any limbs onto power lines or snap power poles in our neighborhood.
But being without power for 3+ days is not fun. So eventually I’ll have to buy a generator, do head gaskets on the Silverado, *AND* get the BMW aligned and cheaper tires on the Camaro for daily use.
Oh, and my property taxes are due, I have to submit my payroll tax payment to the IRS, and everyone else wants their cut of everything.

Since it has not been overheated while I’ve had it, I’m likely safe from having cracked heads or a cracked block. But long blocks are only $5000 or so.
