If you were buying a car (or cars) today with the same $ you spent on your current car, what would it be?

As a dad with 3 kids who loves taking biannual backroadtrips and tries to get to the track a couple times a year, I’d be hard-pressed to find something that checks all those boxes as well as my M3 does (I’d love to find a low-mile ‘11 in Interlagos Blue). Alternatively, I think I could get on board with an SS sedan. However, if multiple cars is an option... if I could have kept my old Mazda 3s hatch and been able to pair it with another car, a 987.2 Cayman S or a BRZ + supercharger are both very tempting. (After a couple more years of depreciation, the GT350 makes this list.) How about you OPPO? What one car would you get with the same money you spent on your current car (or what two or three instead)?

I probably wouldn’t be able to get the same car for the same money honestly. I have a rebuild 2008 Audi S5 with 45k miles, I paid roughly $5k under fair market value for it. lol

I spent a total of $13K on a then-11-year-old BMW with 111K miles because I’m an idiot. I would probably buy an Acura TL with similar miles for a similar price.

I got a ‘13 ST1 FoST for a song, so I highly doubt that I could have gotten anything for the money I spent on a one-owner <25k mile non-modded ST ($13k) and that was with 75k mile extended warranty. Had I not bought the warranty (which I have not used) it owuld have cost <$10k to me. Because traded in pickup truck and paid 5k in cash.

A couple years ago this time, we were looking at 4Runners and Volvo XC70's. Toyota dealer wouldn’t budge from 8k over MSRP on a “TRail” model with pleather, so we scooted out of there on that one. And we were going to get 5k for the Disco and had cash, but decided to buy our first house instead. Glad we did, because I would rather be house poor then car poor.

Soon though friends, I will get the wife something new and get my ST back. Although I have realized that I hate the stock cloth seats after driving in the bolt upright and very firm Disco seats.

Interesting, VERY interesting question. To which I don’t necessarily have an answer. It’s been around 5 years since I bought my ‘10 Super High Output (I enjoy spelling this out, it amuses me), I took it from 40k miles to its current ~80k miles and have no plans of selling it. But if I had $22k?

Can I do two cars? I’d love two cars. I really would like a classic convertible like a 70's Mercedes, but then Hoovies recent video on all his woes with his kind of put me off. Then in addition with what? $12k? I’d get something RWD, manual, 4 doors and budget for snow tires, because Michigan. Perhaps an E series, or a 5 series. But it’s how I’m feeling today! I will probably have a completely different answer tomorrow.

This is a very strange answer for me, as I’ve always been a huuuge Ford fan. But if I’d get Mustang I’d really like it to be a 60's. And finding a reasonably priced example is a challenge.

I just bought a new GX460 last month for a daily driver. I’d probably do it again even though its more than I need for a daily and gets terrible gas mileage. I thought about a Macan S or older Cayenne GTS or Turbo, but I’m happy with my decision for now.

Now the 1975 Mercedes 300D I bought in July, I kind of wish I would have put that money towards a MGB GT instead. Impulse purchases of classic cars can be good (my $2500 Sprite is the best decision I’ve ever made), or not so good (300D now has a fuel leak, and occasionally loses its brakes).
