I need halp, how do? I factored it and then had no idea what to do.
x 2 +13x+40 divided by x 2 +17x+72 all multiplied by x 2 +9x over x 2 -3x-40
This is how I factored it
(x+5)(x+8)( x 2 +9x)
over
(x+9)(x+8)(x-8)(x+5)
Which I then reduced to
x 2 +9x
over
(x+9)(x-8)
Of the four answers. One is like mine, but without the (x+9) and two others have just an x on top and the last answer just has a one on top. So what gives?

If you got (x^2+9x)/((x+9)*(x-8)), how can you reduce it further?

Factor an x out of your last step to make it x(x+9) over (x-8)(x+9) then cancel the (x+9) to leave you with the answer.

There’s no other side of the equation. It’s just two fractions multiplied together. It was just factoring. Phryxes got the right answer. I just had to factor after my factoring.
