Kinja'd!!!

Hopefully my oil pan gasket gets here thursday and I can get this thing back on the road.

Kinja'd!!!

The XJS is an odd sized device. As long as a modern Mustang, but at the same time... perfectly at home next to my Miata.

Kinja'd!!!

lurking bike sitting there being the least broken vehicle I have. Sigh.

Which car needs the oil pan gasket?

You’re making me want an XJS (more)

Jag. The stupid multipiece gasket messed up somehow and it leaks at a rate of 1qt of oil every 10 miles from the front of the engine. Going to lift the engine up a few inches and drop the pan down and put in a felpro one piece gasket and use silicone on the timing cover instead of the stupid paper gasket it has.

I almost forgot you had a Miata. What’s wrong with it?

Clutch. Motor mounts. Something in the suspension that nobody can figure out. Just generally kinda beat up.

That sounds like the tactic I’ve taken with my Spit6's sump gasket. Regular one-piece gasket sandwiched between layers of RTV sealant.

I’ll be damned if my engine continues the reputation of leaky Brits ;)

Seriously. I got a Chevy 350 powered Jag to avoid British engine issues and I’ve had to rebuild it and it leaks like a colander. What the hell.

It’s almost as if...older cars in general are leaky and a bit breaky and the whole British thing is just an unfounded reputation based on the fact that they tended to have poor resale value meaning they tended to be bought by people without the means or will to keep them in good working order (your good self obviously not one of them, given the amount of effort you’ve put into making it right).

Yeah, I expected an SBC to last a little longer than 1,100 miles before shitting the bed though. It’s an annoyance.
